Fuel Economy Tips

With gas prices back on the rise, customers are asking us for tips to increase the fuel economy of their cars. Here’s some of the things we tell them:

Clean Air Filter:

If your car is unable to breath freely, your vehicle will use more fuel to make up for the lack of oxygen.  A clean air filter will result in better gas milage.

Tire Pressure:

Be sure that your tire pressure is adequate for your vehicle’s tires. Air continues to escape from your tires, though you may not have any holes in the tire. Tire pressure should be checked at every oil change, or a minimum of every three months.

Nitrogen Gas in Your Tires:

Nitrogen gas is heavier than oxygen, and because of that it can not leak from your tires as easily. It is also a little more expensive than oxygen, but you may reap the rewards when you fill up your gas tank less often.
